Hello and welcome to my new student-teacher-parent connection blog "Sic Vita Est". This website will allow students and parents to have access to lesson plans for each week in order to better prepare for class. I will update weekly, typically on Sunday evenings.
First, a few notes on how I will operate the website. Quizzes and tests, once announced, will rarely be moved, though they may if circumstances dictate. However, as assignments are usually made only after the material has been taught in class and I have had an opportunity to get a feel for the students' level of mastery, I won't be posting daily work. Instead I will lay out the subjects to be covered and pages in which they can be found in the text book. (This applies most directly to Spanish classes).
If you have questions it is easiest to connect with me via email. My school email is robertakers@somersetchristian.com. I do not have a planning period, so if you any parent would like to meet for a conference, you may schedule time before or after school through the front office.
This particular week will be an unusual one, to be certain. Returning from fall break and finishing the first quarter are sure to cause some disruptions! Here's how the week looks:
Bible III - No new assignments as we go over the unit test that students took prior to the break. Any late work on lessons 1 through 10 may be turned in for partial credit.
U.S. History - We have a test (Test 6) covering the Civil War scheduled for Wednesday, leaving us Monday and Tuesday to review and get back in the swing of things. An assignment will be posted at www.robertakers.blogspot.com to be completed by Friday. Your notes will be collected after Wednesday's test to be graded. Your notes should be neat, complete, and in a three-ring binder. Your notes will comprise the entirety of your quiz grade for the first quarter, and will be graded as six separate quizzes. Those of you that chose to do the vlog assignment have until Friday to turn it in. I would appreciate it if you would post your video or a link to it on the history class website.
Spanish I - Although we have finished the daily quizzes from chapter 3, section 4 (beginning on page 35), I think it would be beneficial to spend some extra time with the grammar we have covered. Therefore we will spend this week going over adjective-noun agreement and verb conjugation, specifically focusing on the verb "estar". Test on Friday!
Spanish II - This will be a very challenging week (fair warning!). We are studying chapter 2, lesson 2, which is divided into two sections. We have finished the first, learning to conjugate irregular verbs (pages 47-52). We will briefly review and then wade into the imperative (pages 53-56). Test Friday!
The senior class will begin work in earnest on year books this week and finish the week with a special treat - to be announced later!
I hope this will help! Feel free to contact me with suggestions for improvement. God bless!
