Here’s a look at the week ahead:
Western Civilizations: Test 2 will be on Wednesday, please be prepared. We will begin our lecture discussion about the Egyptian Empire this week as well, which will be interesting, I hope. The computer in the new history room should be functional which will allow us to view videos as part of class. This week’s homework assignment has already been posted, drawing from articles found on the excellent website livius.org. These articles on this website are of great scholarly quality yet are written with students in mind. Because the contributors are history professors from colleges around the world not every opinion is given from a Christian perspective. I WILL GIVE 5 BONUS POINTS ON THE NEXT TEST IF YOU POINT OUT IN YOUR ESSAY ANY NON-BIBLICAL ERRORS FOUND IN THE ARTICLE. Do not mention the bonus in your essay or in conversations with your friends – this is a reward for checking the lesson plans website.
Spanish I: This week will be devoted to Lesson 2-1 (Second chapter, third lesson). From now on the chapters will be divided into three lessons each, and we will take a test following each lesson. There will be a chapter test at the end of the third lesson that will cover all the material in the three lessons and will count twice the value of a lesson test. Remember to study for your daily vocabulary quizzes!
Spanish II: Test 1-2 will be on Tuesday after review on Monday. We begin vocabulary quizzes on Wednesday and should be testing over 1-3 next Tuesday. Remember that after three sections there is a chapter test!
Arts and Humanities: We begin our art training in earnest this week. Be prepared to try!
Economics: We will finish chapter 2 lecture and begin the review work. Expect a test on Friday.

Are we ready for another big week? Here's a look at what's ahead:
Spanish I: Vocab quizzes and review on Monday and Tuesday. Test Wednesday and we begin Chapter 2 on Thursday.
Spanish II: Test on Monday! We begin daily quizzes for Chapter 1, Lesson 2 on Tuesday and they will run through the week. Look for a test over lesson 2 next Monday (don't worry, we won't have tests on Monday every week!).
Arts Appreciation: We continue our introduction to poetry this week and will also have our first exploration of classic paintings. If all goes as planned we should be working on our first art project by the end of the week!
Western Civilizations: Lecture this week will cover the early great civilizations: Old Babylon, the Hittites and Assyrians, and an introduction to biblical Israel. I foresee the next test being early next week.
Economics: Test on Monday! We'll have a small break from lecture to discuss personal money flow and then we're on to chapter 2.
Looking forward to another fantastic week!

Hello and welcome to the new school year! I am excited about everything that we have planned in each of these classes and I expect great things from each of you students. Here's a look at the week ahead:
Economics: Powerpoint lecture to cover chapter 1. We will have workbook exercises to complete and a test by Friday.
Arts Appreciation: Introduction of Unit 1 - Poetry. I will explain more in class.
Spanish I: We will have vocab quizzes each day this week as we continue to learn the basics of the Spanish language from chapter 1.
Spanish II: We will have vocab quizzes each day Mon-Wed. We will have our first test covering Chapter 1, Lesson 1 on Friday.
Western Civilizations: We will continue our lecture from the biblical account of creation and the dawn of the earliest civilizations. We will break from lecture briefly to discuss other secular views of the existence of humans for comparison's sake. I expect to be completed and ready for Test 1 by next Monday.
Remember, AP World history, you have a separate website devoted entirely to that class: www.scholastic.com/classhomepage .
Please feel free to contact me via email at robertakers@hotmail.com . Let me know if you need help with any subject - don't let yourself get too far behind! Also, there will be a KYA meeting Thursday after school to begin preparations for this year's conference. Thanks!
