March 28-April 2, 2010

Spring Break is near at hand! I am as excited as you are, but there's some things that must be accomplished beforehand. Heres a look at what's ahead:

Bible: Three (count 'em) text book assignments this week - and they'll be collected on Thursday so grades can be put in over the break.

US History - Monday you will test over recent material (Kennedy-Nixon's first administration). Tuesday and Wednesday you will watch a video on the Nixon presidency. Thursday you will be with me in the auditorium preparing for that night's drama performance.

Spanish I:You will have a series of review worksheets to do.

Spanish II: Monday - Tuesday will be devoted to preparing for the test over Chapter 5. We will test on Wednesday.

Have a great week!

March 22-26, 2010

We count the days until spring break! But let's finish the next couple of weeks with a good effort. Here's a look at what's ahead:

Bible: We'll only get to one lesson from the text this week, but I'm taking regular grades for the remainder of the year instead of grading your texts en toto at the end of the quarter. This should ensure your keeping up with assignments in a timely manner. Next week we will do three lessons!

US History: A slight change in plans...we will add another day of lecture (5 day test) in order to cover more ground before the break. Lecture will go through Nixon's first administration and include a discussion of the emergence of radical liberal and staunch conservatism in the 1960s. Test by the end of the week.

Spanish I: We will finish chapter 7 lesson 16 and test this week. Expect to do each activity and take vocab quizzes over the words found on pages 129 and 131.

Spanish II: We must complete 5-3 by the end of the week so we can take the test over chapter 5 next week. This will be challenging, so get ready to keep the pedal down!

March 15-19, 2010

We welcome the beginning of the fourth quarter! Here's a look at the week ahead:

Bible: Lessons from the text book.

US History: We begin lecture that will cover the administrations of Kennedy and Johnson. Lecture should take all week with a test early next week.

Spanish I: Test on Tuesday over chapter 6. We begin chapter 7, 16 on Wednesday with vocab quizzes daily. The focus country is Spain, so we'll be talking some about the European origins of the Spanish language and culture.

Spanish II: Although we are nearly finished with 5-2, it will take us until Friday to be ready to test. Please bring your dictionaries to class each day as there will be increased translation work. A look ahead: Lesson 5-3 will cover common irregular preterite tense verbs and then we'll have the chapter 5 test. Next up: the imperfect tense!

Please come to the Missions program on Thursday night! God bless!

March 8-12, 2010

Here's hoping for a good week with few interruptions! I really enjoyed the merit trip, and now it's time to get back to work. Here's a look at the week ahead.

Bible: On to more lessons.

US History: We continue our study of the Vietnam War. The lecture should take most of the week (end Wed or Thurs) and therefore, probably test early next week (don't grumble, there's absolutely nothing wrong with a Monday test!).

Spanish I: We will finish Lesson 15 on Monday, review Tuesday, Test Wednesday. Remember, this is the final lesson of chapter 6, so we can anticipate a chapter test next week (not on the same day as history test).

Spanish II: We will review on Monday and Tuesday, test over lesson 5-1 on Wednesday.

Let's keep up the pace - every class is doing well, despite the loss of snow days. We'll kick off the fourth quarter in great position for a strong finish. God bless!
