March 1-5, 2010

Hello to those of you who take time to check this site! I hope it will be of some value to you this week. Remember that Friday is our Merit Trip (cross fingers, say prayer). Here's a look at what's ahead:

Bible: We will cover and discuss the next two lessons in the text.

US History: We will spend the entirety of this week lecturing on the Vietnam War. This weeks homework assignment is related to the topic. I do not anticipate a test until early in the next week.

Spanish I: Having completed and tested over Chapter 6 Lesson 17, we will begin Lesson 18 on Monday. Because of the merit trip we will not have time to test this week. We will do each of the activities in the lesson. Just a reminder, this is the last lesson in the chapter and will be followed by the Chapter 6 test.

Spanish II: This week we will launch into Chapter 5 and study the use of the preterite tense in Spanish. Because we've done exercises concerning the two Spanish past tenses before we are actually ahead of the curriculum, therefore most of this will be review. Daily quizzes will begin on Tuesday. Again, due to the merit trip, I don't anticipate being able to test this week.

Congratulations and thanks to Hannah W for bringing in the Nixon and Reagan campaign buttons - they were really cool!

This is a sample syllabus for AP World History. I've ordered previews of several texts and we will be making a decision as to the curriculum soon. Thanks!

February 22-26, 2010

This very likely could be our first complete week of school since December! Here's a look at what's coming up:

Bible: Two next lessons in the text book.

US History: We should finish lecture notes for Test 14 on Wednesday and I anticipate having the test by the first of next week. This week's homework assignment introduces the history of the US over the last 50 years - I hope you enjoy it!

Spanish I - We begin vocabulary quizzes on Monday and should finish chapter 6 Lesson 17 by Wednesday, ready to test on Friday.

Spanish II - We will spend this week preparing for our test that covers Chapters 1-4. Please stay on top of the review and be ready to do your best - we're done with review for the year...it's all brand new material from here on!

Five points test bonus in US History to anyone who can bring in a piece of election memorabilia from any election that has already occurred - don't be stealing yard signs!

February 15-19, 2010

I hope your extended weekend has been a good one! Here's a look at the week ahead:

Bible: We'll accomplish the next two lessons in the Bible books on Wednesday and Thursday.

US History: We should finish lecture notes for Test 14 this week (wrapping up World War II and moving into the Korean War). The test will not be until early the following week.

Spanish I: This week we will finish chapter 6 lesson 13 and test by Friday. There will be no vocabulary quizzes as a result of a need to get through these pages rather quickly. Quizzes will resume next week when we begin lesson 14.

Spanish II: As agreed upon in class, we will put off the test on chapter 4, lesson 3 until Thursday so your Wednesday schedule isn't too packed. KEEP IN MIND that immediately following this test is the test covering chapters 1-4 (sometime next week after a few days of review - but you already have the study guide and should be working ahead!).

February 8-February 12, 2010

We are now past midterm in the 3rd quarter, and it is important to keep up a good effort! Here's a look at the week ahead:

Bible: after several weeks away from the text book we will pick back up with a couple of new lessons on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday will be dedicated to taking the ASVAB.

US History: Please note the assignment for this week posted on the history site. If you failed to do last week's assignment you need to go back and look it over - it contains the information necessary for the 3rd Quarter "Test Pass", which I'm sure you won't want to miss. We will take Test 13 on Tuesday and continue our lecture on Test 14 throughout the week. ASVAB Thursday.

Spanish I: This week will be dedicated to wrapping up and testing over Chapter 5. While this chapter has contained a great deal of new grammar, you all have held up well and are doing great - now on to Chapter 6 and ER and IR verbs!

Spanish II: Although we've covered everything from Chapter 4, lesson 2 in class we'll not test until Wednesday, but expect to move quickly over the next few days. We'll review on Monday, introduce Ch 4 lesson 3 on Tuesday, and Test Wednesday. As mentioned before, all of chapter 4 is focused on vocabulary (rather than grammar) and will be covered quickly. I anticipate finishing the chapter early next week.
